Weddings:

Weddings 3 months notice to Birth, Marriages & Deaths Office. For those living outside the country, greater notice has to be given from the Church end the completed papers are obtained from the parish of domicile then processed through the chancellor  and then he sends the papers to the chancellor in our diocese. No wedding can go ahead until the documents arrive in the parish of the wedding.

Abortion Act:

On the 27th April it will be 51 years since the UK 1967 Abortion Act was introduced as the primary statute law governing the 'termination of pregnancies' in England & Wales. Since 1967 almost 9,000,000 +++ unborn children have been aborted in the United Kingdom. The UK has become a society in which 1 in 5 pregnancies now ends in abortion and where 90% of unborn children diagnosed with Down Syndrome have their lives terminated in intero. It is in this legacy that clinicians are found to be "bulk -signing" forms authorising abortion implying that an abortion is just "another medical procedure" Cora Sherlock.

Baptism:

Being born is a serious business, so also is being baptised. Parents who bring their child to be baptised ought to make sure that the sponsors you choose practice their catholic religion weekly.

Word Meeting of Families Petition Box Itinerary: As part of the preparations for the World Meeting of Families, a special petition box will visit every parish in the diocese. It will be available in each parish from the assigned Saturday evening until the following Friday. During that time each parish can decide whether to leave the box in the parish church or move it round all the churches in the parish. Pen and paper will be available so that people can write their petition and there is no money to be included. Each parish would take the responsibility for passing on the box as per the itinerary. The petition will be taken to a religious community who will pray for the intentions and then the intentions will be taken and included in masses celebrated during the World Meeting of Families in Dublin in August 2018 including the final mass celebrated by Pope Francis.
