Clement: Clement was the third successor to Peter as bishop of Rome 88-97AD. The two in-between were Linus and Cletus. His letter to the Corinthians is regarded as the first recorded intervention by the Bishop of Rome in the affairs of another church. It called for peace and harmony in the life of the Christian community in Corinth. Clement was exiled by the Roman authorities and he became a martyr by drowning in Crimea. His feast day is November 25th and his name means merciful.
