The Sunday Mass.
In 2016 a number of changes were
introduced to the text of the Sunday mass and weekday mass, one of these was
where the reader came to the end of the reading, "this is" was
dropped. This conclusion to the reading was replaced by "the word of the
Lord".
Purgatory.
Purgatory is a temporary place
where souls that are not completely pure through work and suffering and have
refused to let God purify them go. Belief in Purgatory is evident in the early
years of the church. Purgatory is the only way to make sense out of prayers for
the dead. Our prayers help them in their suffering to become pure enough for
heaven. And so the church has always prayed for the dead during November, the
death of nature is a message for us all.
